The ancient city of Tlos, distinguished by its defensible mountainous terrain and commanding position overlooking the Eşen Valley, is one of the principal settlements of the Lycian region. Located within the boundaries of Yakaköy, approximately 15 km southeast of the district of Seydikemer, the site is remarkable not only for its historical significance but also for its natural landscape nourished by abundant water resources.

The ancient settlement extends from the steep western slopes of the Akdağlar, the highest mountain range in the region, down to the valley plain formed by the alluvial deposits of the Eşen River. The boundaries of the city's territory were further defined by the Saklıkent Canyon to the south and the area of modern Seydikemer to the northwest.

The neighboring cities of Tlos included Araxa to the north, Oinoanda to the northeast, Kadyanda to the northwest, Xanthos to the south, Pınara to the southwest, and Telmessos to the west.
